School

Every four years the SICL organizes an international school at the Centre for Scientific Culture “Ettore Majorana” in the beautiful setting of Erice (TP) in western Sicily, which has a decade-long tradition of hospitality for highly qualified international scientific meetings.

The schools of the SICL are addressed to both Italian and foreign PhD students and young scientists (Fellows, Post-Docs)  in Physics , Chemistry, Mathematics, and Engineering interested in enlarging their knowledge in the field of liquid crystals and related fields of research with a focus on nanoscience and nanotechnology.

SICL schools are also part of the initiatives of the International School of liquid crystals  of Erice directed by Prof. Claudio Zannoni.

The first SICL school was held in 2007 with the title:

“Advances in Experimental and Theoretical Techniques for Anisotropic Fluids”.

The second school took place from the 3rd to the 10th of July 2011, with the title:

“Liquid crystal nanostructures and self-assembly: from organic electronics to metamaterials.”
